TRAVELLING WITH YOUR FURRY FRIEND?

Travelling with Dogs Pic 2025 1

We know you love travelling with your best friend and it doesn't exclude you from having a great time in Kalbarri.

Whilst pets are not permitted in the Kalbarri National Park, there are still lots of dog friendly beaches, dining establishments and accommodation options available.

We have pet friendly beaches where dogs are allowed off their leads and also beaches where they will have to stay on their leads. Pets are welcome all throughout the township but they must remain on a lead. Please familiarise yourself with our pet friendly areas around town and surrounding areas by clicking on the link below.

PET FRIENDLY BEACHES:

- Along the Murchison River (Not at Chinamans Beach however and on the lead from the VMR to the Boat Hire)

- Jakes Point

- Siphons Beach

- Back Beach

- Wittecarra Beach

- Red Bluff Beach (not along the rocks as this is where the National Park land begins)

Please click HERE to see the areas around town where dogs are allowed.

PET FRIENDLY CAMPING:

The caravan parks in Kalbarri will allow dogs outside of Western Australian school holidays, but not in the self contained cabins.

Please contact the Caravan Parks directly for their seasonal policy on dogs HERE. Caravan Parks can also assist with contacts of dog sitters in town.

- The Pelican Cafe, on the patio area outside.

- Gorges Cafe, on the patio area outside.

PROHIBITED DOG AREAS:

Chinamans Beach: This is a designated swimming beach at the mouth of the Murchison River, no dogs or fishing is allowed on the beach.

Blue Holes Beach: This is a FHPA (Fish Habitat Protected area), no dogs or fishing or taking anything from the beach area.

Kalbarri National Park: This includes the Coastal Cliff areas and the Inland River Gorges. Restricting dogs and cats in National Parks and reserves is for the protection of native wildlife and consideration of other park users. Pets are not allowed into these areas or to stay in the vehicles. Pet sitters are available for those wanting to explore the National Park.

1080 BAITING IN KALBARRI NATIONAL PARK:

Please be aware that Kalbarri National Park, both Coastal and Inland areas, are subject to invasive predator control programs which involve the use of 1080. This is a substance that is extremely poisonous to dogs. Other farmland and bushland areas can also use this substance for feral animal control, please exercise caution with pets even outside of National Park boundaries. For more information on these programs and the use of 1080 follow the links below:
